Bharath Parthasarathy, deputy general counsel at Georgia State University, has been named interim director of athletics at Georgia State, pending the completion of a national search for a successor to Cheryl Levick, who resigned in May.
Parthasarathy has extensive experience with Athletics operations and programs. He has worked closely with the department on policies and legal issues and has developed strong working relationships within the organization, President Mark Becker said. Becker said he expects to name a new athletic director by the end of the summer.
Parthasarathy has served on numerous university committees, including the Institutional Review Board, Centennial Planning Committee and the Rhodes/Marshall/Mitchell Scholarship Selection Committee. He is a frequent speaker on intercollegiate athletics, higher education and the modern role of inhouse counsel. Parthasarathy began his legal career as an associate at Alston & Bird LLP.
