Roddy Jones joins GT football broadcast team
Roddy Jones, one of the most popular players in recent Yellow Jacket football history and an accomplished scholar-athlete while attending Georgia Tech, will join the Tech-IMG Radio Network broadcast team as color analyst.
Jones will be alongside Brandon Gaudin, the second-year radio play-by-play voice of the Yellow Jackets, in the booth this fall.
While Jones will make his official debut when Georgia Tech hosts Wofford on Aug. 30, the Stone Mountain native has already built an impressive broadcasting portfolio since graduating in 2011. Jones has done extensive ESPN3 analyst work (with Gaudin) including Georgia Tech’s Pro Day and Spring Game as well as a plethora of Yellow Jacket baseball and softball broadcasts. In 2012, Jones had a featured weekly segment on the football radio pre-game show.
Five Tech Golfers Named to All-ACC Academic Team
All five starters on Georgia Tech’s golf team have been named to the 2014 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Golf Team announced Monday, while Ollie Schniederjans has also been named the ACC Men’s Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
It is the second time in the last three years that Tech has placed five individuals on the ACC’s All-Academic team, and Schniederjans becomes the second Yellow Jacket to be named Scholar-Athlete of the Year, joining James White, who won it twice in 2011 and 2012
All five members of the Yellow Jackets have made the ACC All-Academic team multiple times. Bo Andrews, a Raleigh, N.C., native who recently graduated with his degree in Management, made the team for the fourth time, while Schniederjans and Anders Albertson, a junior from Woodstock, Ga., made the team for the third time. Seniors Seth Reeves (Duluth, Ga.) and Richard Werenski (South Hadley, Mass.), were each honored for the second time.
