GREENSBORO, N.C.- In a preseason poll of media attending the 2014 ACC Football Kickoff at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C., the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were picked fifth in the Coastal Division.

The Yellow Jackets received one first-place vote in the Coastal Division race.

Since Paul Johnson’s arrival in Atlanta, no team in the ACC has exceeded preseason expectations more than the Yellow Jackets. Tech’s average predicted finish is third place (3.2), while the team’s average actual finish is just better than second place (1.8) — a difference of +1.4.

Defending national champion Florida State was selected to win the ACC championship with 104 votes. For the second year in a row, Miami was favored to win the Coastal Division, followed by Duke, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Pitt and Virginia. The Yellow Jackets host three coastal division opponents on the Flats this fall – Miami, Duke and Virginia – and welcome cross-division rival Clemson in their ACC home schedule.
