ATLANTA, Aug. 13, 2014 – With a 96-82 victory over the Western Conference-leading Phoenix Mercury Wednesday evening, the Atlanta Dream has clinched the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference for the 2014 WNBA Playoffs. It marks the first time in team history that the Dream has earned the East’s top seed for the playoffs.

Atlanta improved its record to 18-14 with the win against Phoenix, which entered the contest with a WNBA-best record of 27-4 and has clinched home-court advantage throughout the playoffs. The Dream is now 12-4 in home games this season, one win shy of the franchise record for home victories in a season.

The Dream will open the playoffs at Philips Arena on either Thursday, Aug. 21, or Friday, Aug. 22.
