Release from Georgia Tech Athletics:

Historic Grant Field opens its 101st season as home of Georgia Tech football Saturday when the Yellow Jackets host the Wofford Terriers. Kickoff is set for 12:33 p.m. ET.

Georgia Tech and Wofford will meet on the football field for the first time in 113 seasons. The Yellow Jackets won the only previous meeting, a 33-0 win in 1901 (game played in Augusta).

OPENERS IN PAUL JOHNSON ERA

Georgia Tech is 6-0 in home openers in the Paul Johnson era, winning each of its last four home openers by more than 30 points. The Yellow Jackets are 5-1 in season openers under Johnson; GT’s only season-opening loss came in 2012 – a 20-17 OT road loss at Virginia Tech.

FC-SUCCESS

Wofford will be Georgia Tech’s 91st game against current FCS schools. The Ramblin’ Wreck has posted an impressive 81-6-3 all-time mark (.917) in those contests. Georgia Tech has won 23 straight games against FCS schools (27-game unbeaten streak). Georgia Tech hasn’t loss to an FCS school since Sept. 17, 1983 – a 17-14 home loss to Furman.

The Yellow Jackets have never lost a season opener to an FCS school – a near-flawless 23-0-1 mark. Georgia Tech’s lone tie also came against Furman in 1986.

SCORING STREAK

Georgia Tech has played 211 consecutive games without being shut out – the eighth-longest active streak in the nation. The last time the Yellow Jackets were blanked came Oct. 18, 1997 – a 38-0 loss at No. 3 Florida State.

Georgia Tech hasn’t been shut out at home since Nov. 30, 1957 – a streak of 352 consecutive home games at Boddy Dodd Stadium.
