Clair was named the Memphis Invitational MVP after posting double-digit kills in all three matches, including a career-high 20 against UT-Martin, to lead the Rebels to their second straight tournament title and their best start since the 2007 season. With the Rebels facing match point in the fifth set against Memphis, Clair’s 18th kill tied the set, as the Rebels went on to win it 16-14. For the week, she owned a .463 hitting percentage and recorded 55 kills and nine total blocks.
Defensive Player of the WeekJasmine Eatmon • GeorgiaJunior • MB • 6-1 • Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
Eatmon helped her team to a perfect 3-0 record, making Georgia just one of three SEC teams that finished with a perfect record last weekend and the only team that swept each team that they faced. She led the team with 10 blocks on the weekend and tied for the most solo blocks with three. For the year, Eatmon leads the team with 27 blocks. She shined offensively as well, hitting at a .333 clip for the weekend, including a .462 efficiency against Belmont.
Freshman of the WeekStephanie Aiple • Texas A&MFreshman • S • 6-1 • Round Rock, Texas
Aiple was named to the all-tournament team after leading Texas A&M to three consecutive victories and Ohio University’s Baymont Inn & Suites Invitational championship title. She drew the first start of her career in A&M’s tournament opener against host Ohio and had 39 assists and seven digs in the sweep. In the second start of her career, Aiple posted her first double-double with 28 assists and a team-high 11 digs as A&M swept Virginia Tech. In A&M’s final match of the tournament, Aiple had 52 assists along with two kills, seven digs, two blocks and an ace as the Aggies came back to defeat VCU to finish the tournament undefeated. She started every match and played in every play of the 11 sets throughout the tournament and averaged 10.82 assists per set and was third on the team with 2.27 digs per set.
