Release from Florida State Athletics:

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Senior tight end Nick O’Leary was named the national John Mackey Tight End of the Week on Wednesday following his career-best eight-reception, 97-yard, one-touchdown performance in Florida State’s 38-20 win over Syracuse last Saturday.

O’Leary became FSU’s all-time leader in receptions by a tight end in the game with 90 in his career, breaking Gary Parris’ record (82) that had stood since 1972. O’Leary’s second-quarter touchdown gave FSU a 24-6 lead at the half. He now holds FSU career tight end records for receptions, touchdowns (13) and receiving yards (1,248).

This season, O’Leary has 24 receptions for 275 yards and two touchdowns for the 6-0 Seminoles.

A preseason All-American by nearly every service in 2014, O’Leary was one of three Mackey Award finalists in 2013.

The 2014 John Mackey recipient will be announced on December 10, 2014 and presented live on December 11, 2014 at The Home Depot College Football

Awards Red Carpet Show on ESPNU. Other key dates include the Mackey Semifinalists on November 17, 2014 and the Mackey Finalists on November 24, 2014.
