Release from Kennesaw State Athletics:

The Kennesaw State volleyball team lost 3-0 (11-25, 21-25, 17-25) to the Northern Kentucky Norse on Friday night.

“Tonight we just flat out got beat by a team playing really well,” head coach Keith Schunzel said. “The good things to take from the match is that we passed well, we set well, we dug well, but that bad thing to take away from the match is we didn’t socre nearly enough. Until we learn to attack the ball more aggressively, more confidently and at a higher rate, we’ll struggle against good teams.”

Kelly Marcinek led the team with seven kills. Kristi Piedimonte had 22 assists, and Katarina Morton had 15 digs. Alex Huber had a career-high three aces in the match.

After dropping the first set, the Owls found themselves down in the second 19-11 and responded with a 10-2 run to tie the match at 21. After being on the ropes, NKU answered with a 4-0 run to clinch the second set and go up 2-0 in the match.

In the third set, NKU grabbed a big lead early at 10-4. KSU went on a 4-0 run in the middle of the set to get within three, but couldn’t get any closer than that as Northern Kentucky went on to win the match in three sets.
