Release from Kennesaw State Athletics:
After setting a new career high with 32 points and making six three pointers against USC Upstate, Nigel Pruitt was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Week on Monday, January 12.
This is the first time he’s won the award.
“I am very proud of Nigel Pruitt,” head coach Jimmy Lallathin said. “He’s been a guy since he’s entered this program that I’ve expected big things. He’s starting to see and meet some of those expectations. I expect for Nigel to continue to have a great season as he continues to grow, and I think he still has room to grow and improve. We’re excited about this great honor for him and the future for Nigel and Kennesaw State’s men’s basketball.”
When USC Upstate pushed its lead to 10, Pruitt caught fire and answered by scoring nine straight points to make the game tight again. He went on to score 16 of the final 22 points for the Owls.
This is the second week in a row that the Owls have claimed a weekly award from the A-Sun.
