SEC Announces Men’s Basketball Players of the Week

Player of the WeekTim Quarterman • LSUSophomore • Guard • Savannah, Ga.Quarterman was named SEC Player of the Week after averaging 13 points, 6.5 rebounds and eight assists in leading the Tigers to wins at Auburn and against Ole Miss. Quarterman recorded the first triple-double by an LSU player since Shaquille O’Neal in 1992 when he posted 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against Ole Miss. He played 70 of a possible 80 minutes last week and made 9-of-18 field goals and 8-of-10 free throws while posting an assist-turnover ratio of 4-to-1. Quarterman has started the past seven games for the Tigers after being a tremendous sixth man for the Tigers.

Freshman of the WeekTrey Lyles • KentuckyFreshman • Forward • Indianapolis, Ind.Lyles was named SEC Freshman of the Week after averaging 18 points and five rebounds in wins at Mississippi State and against N0. 18 Arkansas. Lyles opened the week by a scoring a career-high 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting. It marked just the second double-figure scoring effort of the season in league competition. He also hauled in six rebounds and had a pair of assists. He followed that performance with another 18-point performance in the win over the Razorbacks. He was UK’s leading scorer in both contests.
