Georgia Tech women’s basketball junior Roddreka Rogers has been named to the 2014-15 All-ACC Women’s Basketball Academic Team.
Rogers is the ninth Yellow Jacket to earn the honor and the first since Shayla Bivins in 2014. The award goes to student-athletes with a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during her academic career. The award is based 60 percent on academic achievement and 40 percent on athletic accomplishment.
Rogers is a literature media and culture major at Georgia Tech. She has led the Jackets in rebounding all season with an average of 9.9 rebounds per game which ranks fifth in the ACC. She also has averaged 9.7 points per game. During ACC play, the forward averaged a double-double, with 10.4 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per game.
The Charlotte, N.C. native has 11 double-doubles this season and has pulled down at least 12 rebounds in 11 games this season. Rogers finished out the season strong, averaging 12.2 points per game and 12.7 rebounds per game over the past six games. In the ACC Tournament, Rogers recorded back-to-back double-doubles in Tech’s win against Clemson and loss to #16 North Carolina. Against Clemson, Rogers scored a career-high 20 points and pulled down a team-best 14 rebounds. She also led the Jackets in rebounding vs. North Carolina with 11 boards and scored 10 points.
Rogers and the Yellow Jackets await their postseason fate, which will be released on March 16.
