Junior Travis Bergen was name Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Week after his masterful four-hit, complete game, shutout Saturday afternoon on the road against Northern Kentucky, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon

“I thought he had an outstanding performance at Northern Kentucky Saturday afternoon. He went nine innings and was very efficient in his outing,” head coach Mike Sansing said. “He threw extremley well and I am proud of his efforts. I appreciate the A-Sun of his recognition for what he did this weekend.”

Bergen collects his second weekly honor of the season as the left-hander threw a complete game gem on Saturday in league play. Bergen struck out nine batters while only allowing one run to cross the plate as the Owls defeated Northern Kentucky 10-1. He allowed only four hits and helped the Owls complete a three-game series sweep over NKU. For the season, Bertgen is 4-3 with an ERA of 2.59. The McDonough, Georgia native has 62 strikeouts over 62.2 innings of work on the mound this season. He is holding opponents to a .213 batting average, while walking just 12 batters this season.
