Release from Florida State Athletics:

After each earned a spot on the 2015 All-ACC First Team, Lacey Waldrop, Jessica Warren and Morgan Klaevemann were named to the NFCA Southeast All-Region Teams announced today by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Waldrop was selected to the First Team, Warren was chosen to be on the Second Team while Klaevemann was named to the Third Team.

It is the third-straight season that Waldrop has been named to an NFCA All-Region Team and her second time earning First Team Accolades. For freshmen Warren and Klaevemann, it is the first All-Region honor of their careers.

“I’m so proud of Lacey, Jessica and Morgan for what they bring to this team,” said FSU head coach Lonni Alameda. “They are extremely hard workers and each has the priority of doing whatever they can to make the team better. It has been great seeing Lacey continue to compete and succeed throughout her career and it is exciting watching these freshmen adapt to the college game and excel.”

Waldrop leads the team and the ACC with a 28-6 record with a 1.49 ERA. The senior has recorded 222 strikeouts in 201.2 innings and teams are batting .165 against her on the season. The Chester, Va., native became FSU’s career wins leader on May 3 and now has 109 career victories in the circle for FSU.

“It definitely means a lot because we are in such a tough region with a lot of SEC schools that have a lot of talent this year,” said Waldrop. “It is exciting and I need to thank my team because they play so solid behind me. We’ve grown as a program this year and I think, especially lately, I’ve grown as a pitcher. It means a lot that I would be selected to the All-Region team.”

Warren has been a consistent leader for the Seminoles, both at the plate and on the field. The freshman leads the team in seven different offensive categories, including home runs (16), RBI (50), runs scored (47) and slugging percentage (.709). The Tampa, Fla., native drove in the game-winning runs against Pitt in the ACC Championship Game on May 9 with a two-run single to right field. She also plays aggressive defense at third base and leads the team with 95 assists.

“I wouldn’t be able to do this without my teammates,” said Warren. “They’ve been here for me since the beginning, helping me on and off the field. The coaches have worked really hard with me to get me used to the first-year college experience. It is an honor to be on the second team and a lot of my success comes from them.”

Klaevemann has been a spark for the Florida State softball team this season, with her tremendous defense in centerfield as well as her talented bat at the top of the batting order. The freshman from Refugio, Texas, leads the Noles with a .401 batting average, 63 hits and 16 stolen bases. Klaevemann is currently on a 23-game hitting streak, which ranks second all-time in FSU history, trailing Natasha Jacob’s 28-game streak from 2006. She has also tallied five outfield assists, including throwing runners out at the plate in the sixth and seventh innings of a game at Georgia Tech to preserve a 3-2 lead.

“It makes me extremely proud,” said Klaevemann. “I know I wouldn’t be here without the coaches and all the work they’ve put in with me as well as the teammates I get to play with. I reflect what they put off and we work as a unit. If I’m All-Region, then they all are because I couldn’t do it without them.”

All three are now eligible to be named to the three NFCA All-American teams that will be announced prior to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City, Okla.
