After starting every game and breaking six single-season & four single-game records, Georgia State true freshman standout Ivie Drake was named an NFCA Second-Team All-American the organization announced Wednesday.

“I am so proud of all that Ivie has accomplished this year,” head coach Roger Kincaid said. “I am thankful that she is receiving the recognition she deserves because it not only reflects positively on her but also on our program. To achieve this as a freshman is special and leads me to believe that the next three years will be even better.”

The Sun Belt Freshman of the Year added second-team All-American honors to her impressive list of accomplishments that includes:

  • First-team NFCA South All-Region
  • First team All-Sun Belt
  • NFCA National Freshman-of-the-Year finalist
  • Sun Belt All-Tournament team
  • Three-time Sun Belt Player of the Week.

Drake led the conference in batting average (.462), hits (85), on-base percentage (.550), doubles (16), total bases (169) and runners picked off (6). The catcher also finished second in slugging percentage (.918), RBI (67), runs scored (59) and home runs (22).

In the most recent national statistics standings, she ranks in the top 25 in six different categories including five in the top 20, three in the top 15 and one in the top 10. Drake is:

  • Ninth in batting average
  • 12th in slugging percentage
  • Tied for 12th in home runs
  • Tied for 16th in on-base percentage
  • Tied for 18th in RBI
  • 21st in home runs per game
  • 37th in RBI per game

In the Georgia State record book, Drake set single-season records for batting average, hits, RBI, runs scored, home runs and slugging percentage, in addition to finishing fifth in walks and tied for fifth in doubles. She also blasted three home runs and recorded 12 total bases at Texas State and picked off three runners against UL Monroe to break all three single-game records.
