Release from Georgia State Athletics:
Georgia State freshman receiver Penny Hart has been named to the Watch List for the Biletnkoff Award as the college football season’s outstanding receiver.
Hart’s selection gives GSU two receivers on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List, joining senior Donovan Harden.
Hart, from Buford, Ga., and King’s Ridge Christian Academy, is the Panthers’ leading receiver with 34 receptions for 534 yards and four touchdowns.
The 5-8, 170-pound rookie is second in the Sun Belt Conference in receptions (5.7 per game) and receiving yards (85.5 per game) and third in touchdowns.
Among all freshmen in the nation, Hart ranks third in receptions and receiving yards and fourth in touchdowns, and he is one of four freshmen on this prestigious list.
Hart is a key component in a Georgia State offense that leads the Sun Belt in passing yards. His quarterback, Nick Arbuckle, is averaging 326.8 yards per game, ranking eighth in FBS.
Hart and the Panthers (2-4, 1-1 Sun Belt) play at Arkansas State Saturday at 7 p.m. on ESPN3, while Georgia State’s next home game is Nov. 7 vs. UL Lafayette (2 p.m. at the Georgia Dome).
The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., (TQC Foundation), the Florida-based creator and sponsor of the Biletnikoff Award, presents the honor to the college football season’s outstanding receiver. Anyone who catches a pass, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back, inside receiver, or running back) is eligible to win the Biletnikoff Award. The TQC Foundation will trim the list to 10 semifinalists on Nov. 17, with the winner announced Dec. 10 on The Home Depot College Football Awards Show.
