Release from Georgia State Athletics:

Five Georgia State Panthers were named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt team selected by the league head coaches and media and announced Friday in advance of the annual Sun Belt Football Media Day, which takes place Monday in New Orleans.

The receiver tandem of Robert Davis and Penny Hart, along with safety Bobby Baker, are on the first team, while tight end Keith Rucker and defensive end Shawanye Lawrence were tabbed to the second team.

All five are returning all-conference performers.

Running back Larry Rose III from New Mexico State and Appalachian State linebacker John Law are the Preseason Offensive and Defensive Student-Athletes of the Year.

Georgia State opens the 2016 season four weeks from today as the Panthers host Ball State on Friday, Sept. 2.
