The Sports Inquirer attended the presser of Michael Parkhurst following the team’s practice on Sept. 23. Parkhurst announced his retirement at the end of the 2019 season earlier in the day. Topics included Parkhurst’s decision process to retirement, memories of playing in Atlanta including winning the 2018 MLS Cup, serving as the team’s first captain, representing the United States internationally, future plans post-retirement and Atlanta preparing to visit New York City FC on Sept. 25.
