Georgia State head coach Ron Hunter announced the signing of St. Bonaventure transfer Jordan Tyson on Wednesday. The 6-10 forward/center will have two seasons of eligibility remaining with the Panthers after sitting out the upcoming 2016-17 season per NCAA transfer rules.

As a redshirt-freshman last season, Tyson saw action in 23 games, making nine starts and averaging 2.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. He averaged 15.8 minutes per game, shooting 20-of-47 from the floor. He missed the first nine games of the season with a broken wrist.

He suffered a broken jaw during his freshman season after just one game and did not dress the remainder of the season.

“We are really excited to welcome Jordan to the Georgia State program,” Hunter said. “Jordan has great size and a really high basketball IQ. He is going to fit really well into our team-dynamic and I look forward to working with him as classes get underway.”

Tyson attended Fisburne Military Academy during the 2013-14 season averaging 12.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots per game. During the season, he shot 68 percent from the floor and 79 percent from the free throw line as the Caissons finished 25-7 and were ranked No. 4 in the nation.

He graduated from Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, where as a senior he was named an Eastern Cincinnati Conference honorable mention selection for a team that went 27-2 and reached the Division I state semifinals. He attended DeSales High School prior to his senior season at Walnut Hills.

Georgia State has now filled out its roster for the upcoming 2016-17 season.
