Falcons’ Matt Ryan named NFC Player of the Week

Matt Ryan wins NFC Offensive Player of the Week for week nine.

Ryan tossed four touchdowns in the Falcons, 43-28, win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football. He completed 73.5 percent of his passes, connecting on 25-of-34 throws, while totaling 344 yards and a season-high 144.7 passer rating. Ryan hit seven different receivers in the game, including passes of 20+ yards to six different players. He threw touchdowns to four different players, including his league-leading 10th touchdown of 20+ yards on a 32-yard strike to Levine Toilolo. The ninth-year signal caller averaged 10.12 yards per pass attempt, the third time he has eclipsed 10 YPA in a single game this season.

Ryan previously won the Player of the Month award for the month of September. His three Player of the Month awards are also the most by any player in franchise history. This is Ryan’s seventh time winning the Player of the Week award – most in franchise history – and he is the second player for the Falcons to win the award this year – Julio Jones won in week four. Two other players have won the Player of the Month award this season – Deion Jones (Rookie – September) and Matt Bryant (Special Teams – October).
